The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission removed a dead manatee from a boat ramp at Horton Park in Cape Coral.
FWC officials told Gulf Coast News that they are going to tow the manatee away and let it decompose naturally.
Park Goer, Bruce Talbot, noticed it and knew something was wrong. He said he called law enforcement right away.
"It's important to notify the authorities because Florida Fish and Wildlife isn't just going to collect the body and dispose of it," Talbot said. "They're going to determine what caused this death. Was it red tide? Was it a boat strike? You know what? What was the cause of the death? So that we can learn something from the tragedy."
It is unclear what caused the manatee's death at this time.
