If you have ever tried to lose weight, you know how hard it can be, especially with diet culture everywhere. So, how can we create lasting results that keep the weight off?
Dr. George Moricz from Naples Center for Functional Medicine joined Gulf Coast News to help us go beyond the weight-loss fads.
Most of us are familiar with the body mass index, which is based on height and weight. In Moricz's book, “Root Cause Medicine,” he writes about a more comprehensive body composition analysis. He discusses the importance of obtaining a patient’s detailed health history to better understand the role of familial, genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors. Sustainable weight loss isn’t just about counting calories. It’s about restoring balance to the body.
Moricz suggests steps that you can take to get on the path toward lasting results with weight loss. He suggests eating three meals a day with no snacks or alcohol, fasting for 12 hours a day (the best times are between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.), having proper sleep hygiene and exercising for at least 30 minutes daily.
