Charlotte County deputies are investigating a road rage shooting involving motorcyclists near Gilchrist Bridge (U.S. 41 Southbound), with no injuries reported.
"Well, you know, I think it's crazy. It's too bad that people have to fear for that," Joyce, who is vacationing in Charlotte County, expressed her concerns about the incident.
Ivo Moreno is a quartermaster at Veterans of Foreign Wars Cape Coral and a bike rider for the past 32 years. He shared his experience of having a gun pulled on him while riding.
"What do you do? You have to defend yourself. Unfortunately, some folks just do that first and that never makes it to the news. And I'm sorry to say it does it. There were times where I was yelling at someone, saying, 'Hey, I'm right here in your blind spot,' and they pulled the firearm on me while I was riding my motorcycle," Moreno said.
On Saturday night, deputies closed down the bridge for a shooting investigation.
They say a group of motorcyclists in the Phantoms Motorcycle Club were involved.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said the group is known as "one percenters" — clubs that believe they are of the 1% who are above the law.
Chris Sisemore and Daniel Davis were charged in the road rage shooting.
Deputies found them at the Shell gas station on Jones Loop Road after the shooting. The deputies also found guns in their biker vests, brass knuckles and a knife.
"I mean, I'm not against people owning guns, but why do you have to drag them out everywhere you go and just start shooting," Joyce said.
Sisemore and Davis have since bonded out of jail. The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office says additional charges may come as the investigation continues.
