As spring training returns, Lee County transportation officials are urging drivers to prepare for increased traffic congestion near the stadiums, especially on days when both the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox have home games at the same time.

According to the Lee County Traffic Operations Center, the heaviest traffic is expected along the Daniels Parkway corridor in south Fort Myers on three key dates this season:
Sunday, March 2; Wednesday, March 5; and Friday, March 7.
On those days, both teams will be hosting afternoon games starting at 1:05 p.m. Officials anticipate the busiest traffic periods between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., and again between 3:45 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Additionally, a supplemental double-game day is scheduled for Friday, March 14, with the Red Sox playing at 1:05 p.m. and the Twins playing at 6:05 p.m., which could lead to evening traffic delays.
To mitigate congestion, the county’s Traffic Operations Center will implement special traffic-signal timing, and officials are coordinating efforts with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the teams.
The Boston Red Sox hold their spring training at JetBlue Park, located at 11500 Fenway South Drive, while the Minnesota Twins train at the Lee Health Sports Complex, about six miles away at 14100 Ben C. Pratt/Six Mile Cypress Parkway.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider alternate routes on game days to avoid delays.
