A 69-year-old Sarasota man was arrested for exposing himself at the Heron Creek Towne Center and leading North Port police on a chase.
According to the North Port Police Department , Issa Mousa Alyan was found seated in his car with his pants undone.
As an officer attempted to question him, Alyan put the vehicle in gear and began driving in reverse, hitting the officer's police vehicle.
Alyan then put the vehicle in drive, and the officer had to move out of the way to avoid being hit.
Alyan recklessly feld down Sumter Boulevard and then northbound on U.S. Route 41, according to NPPD.
Officers had to use a controlled intervention maneuver to end the pursuit near the roundabout at Costco on Mezzo Drive.
Multiple units were on the scene in the area of South Tamiami Trail (U.S. 41) and Brimstone Hill Boulevard (Wellen Park).
Alyan was taken into custody and is facing charges for the following:
- Exposure of Sexual Organs (Misdemeanor)
- Criminal Mischief (Felony)
- Fleeing & Eluding (Felony)
- Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (Felony)
- Possession of Narcotics and Paraphernalia (charges pending further investigation)
NPPD said one officer suffered injuries during the collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Alyan was also taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
