A local foundation just reached a major milestone when it comes to helping kids in the community.
The 23rd annual Nichols Cup recently wrapped up its four-day event at Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Myers. It featured tennis, pickleball, a pro-am golf tournament and an auction gala, all to raise funds for local abused and at-risk children. That's been the mission since 2002 for the Bobby Nichols-Fiddlesticks Charity Foundation.
After reaching its fundraising goal this year, the foundation has now raised $20 million over the past two decades. The funds support its six local charities, including Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida and Abuse Counseling & Treatment, Blessings in a Backpack, Liberty Youth Ranch, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice and Pace Center for Girls, Lee.
A group of Fiddlesticks members, known as Pipers, started The Bobby Nichols-Fiddlesticks Charity Foundation.
The annual tournament recognizes the contributions and accomplishments of golfer Bobby Nichols, a longtime resident of Fiddlesticks and winner of 14 PGA Tour tournaments.
