North Port police are working to piece together what led up to a police chase Tuesday afternoon.
According to the North Port Police Department, multiple units have been on the scene in the area of South Tamiami Trail (U.S. 41) and Brimstone Hill Boulevard (Wellen Park).
Police said a vehicle involved in a criminal investigation rammed a marked patrol car and drove away from Sumter Boulevard and West Price Boulevard. The chase ended near the Costco on Mezzo Drive.
According to NPPD, officers were able to safely perform a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver and stop the driver.
At this time, Gulf Coast News is working to find out who might have been taken into custody and facing charges.
