The Hendry County Sheriff's Office confirmed they were assisting ICE, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, on Wednesday morning in LaBelle.
HCSO told Gulf Coast News that they were on the scene on Garden Street, near East Cowboy Way. It's unclear what initiated the response by ICE at this time.
ICE said due to their operational tempo and the increased interest in their agency, they are not able to research and respond to rumors or specifics of routine daily operations.
As we know, there has been an enhanced operation to enforce United States immigration laws since President Trump took office. Just this week Immigration and Customs Enforcement said ICE has made at least 2,681 arrests since January 20th targeting migrants with criminal backgrounds.
Investigators have since cleared out. Gulf Coast News reached out to ICE as we continue working to find out what happened.
