A man was arrested early Thursday morning in Bonita Springs after being accused of attacking another man and threatening a woman with a skillet during an argument.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, deputies said Edward Joseph Diaz, 45, fell asleep at the victim's home. The female victim then invited two men over to help with a renovation project while he was asleep.
When Diaz woke up and saw the two men at her home, the report states Diaz became very upset.
Witnesses told deputies that Diaz punched one of the men before grabbing a skillet and swinging it at the woman, narrowly missing her.
She told deputies she feared for her life when Diaz allegedly said, “Call the cops; I will kill you.”
The man who was struck ran outside, and Diaz left the scene before deputies arrived, according to the report.
The woman later provided a sworn statement to law enforcement, stating that Diaz had a history of jealousy and aggression.
Deputies later tracked Diaz to a shed behind a residence and took him into custody.
He was booked into the Lee County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
