A Charlotte County man was sentenced to two life terms in prison Tuesday for two counts of armed robbery while wearing a mask.
Shamar Dameon Blair was convicted on Friday after a jury trial.
He also received a 30-year sentence for attempted armed robbery in connection to a 2019 convenience store holdup.
Prosecutors said Blair entered a convenience store at the corner of Bayshore Road and Edgewater Drive in Port Charlotte, where he jumped over the counter, pointed a gun at employees and demanded money.
Three workers were inside the store, which had just opened for the day. Two were behind the counter, while the third was in a freezer.
Blair threatened the two at gunpoint, demanding they open the cash register, but neither knew how, so he then robbed one of them of their personal belongings.
When the third employee came out of the freezer, they were also robbed at gunpoint.
A sheriff’s office investigation led to Blair’s identification and arrest. He has two additional cases pending in Charlotte County.
