A Collier County man was arrested Wednesday on criminal mischief charges after Deputies say he vandalized multiple vehicles parked near a restaurant in Isle of Capri.
According to the arrest report, Michael Cochran, 77, surveillance video shows Cochran smearing a substance on vehicle door handles and windshields and puncturing tires with a sharp object.
The investigation began earlier in February when victims reported finding petroleum jelly on their vehicles and discovering their tires had been punctured.
One victim, who had been dining in the area, reported more than $1,300 in damages.
Two others reported similar incidents, with repair costs ranging from $600 to nearly $800.
Deputies said Cochran mentioned during his arrest that he believed the vehicles were illegally parked on his property.
While in the patrol car with the deputy, he allegedly kept stating that "he and a friend were walking around outside killing cane toads and had sharp objects and that the vehicles should have never been parked on his property."
Cochran was arrested earlier this month on a similar charge and now faces additional counts of criminal mischief.
