Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has appointed the Naples police chief with nearly four decades of law enforcement experience to the Florida State Immigration Enforcement Council.
According to the Naples Police Department, Chief Ciro Dominguez brings extensive experience to the council, where he will collaborate with other law enforcement leaders to address challenges related to illegal immigration.
He is the second local law enforcement officer to be appointed to the council. Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell was also recently appointed to the council.
Dominguez said he is honored to serve and emphasized the importance of balancing enforcement with dignity and respect. “Together, we can ensure the State of Florida has the strongest illegal immigration measures in place to foster safe communities and safe streets, all while providing compassion, dignity, and respect to all,” Dominguez said in a statement.
The council is tasked with recommending best practices for handling immigration-related issues and working with law enforcement agencies statewide.
