A Golden Gate Estates man was arrested after authorities say he repeatedly set off fireworks outside a home and returned multiple times while wearing a mask.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence on Boca Circle early Sunday morning after a homeowner reported loud noises outside.
The homeowner told deputies he woke up to a loud bang around 1:30 a.m. but saw nothing when he checked. An hour later, a neighbor told him that they saw a man walking around the property.
Deputies reviewed surveillance footage, which showed a man getting out of a white Tesla at 1:28 a.m. near the entrance of the homeowner's HOA, wearing a lime green ski mask.
The footage at the home reportedly captured him setting off a firework in front of the house, causing a loud explosion, before running back to his vehicle.
The video also showed the same person returning on foot at 2:25 a.m. and again at 2:40 a.m., lighting additional fireworks and ringing the doorbell before peering through the home’s windows, according to the arrest report.
Further investigation linked the suspect to a previous incident reported in September, where a man wearing a lime green mask was seen adjusting security cameras and speaking to an off-camera accomplice before ringing the doorbell and running away.
The report states he was also peering into the victim's windows.
Collier County deputies identified the suspect as Ryan James Johnson, 22.
On Tuesday, deputies stopped his vehicle at the intersection of Livingston Road and Marsala Way, where they found a lime green ski mask inside his car.
Johnson was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor counts of stalking and trespassing while masked.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incidents.
