An 18-year-old was arrested Thursday in Collier County after deputies linked him to a string of vehicle burglaries.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the man was later found with drugs and alcohol in his possession at the time of his arrest.
According to the sheriff’s office, Matthew Trillingham, 18, was identified as a suspect in a string of at least six vehicle burglaries through surveillance video footage.
The footage allegedly showed Trillingham and another suspect, Daniel Taylor, breaking into cars across various locations in Collier County.
Detectives noted that Trillingham was wearing the same clothing in multiple videos, which helped confirm his identity. The report states that prints at one scene also linked back to Trillingham.
On Thursday night, deputies spotted Trillingham and two others riding skateboards near the Collier County Government Center.
The deputies conducted a traffic stop, during which they identified Trillingham as a suspect in multiple burglary cases.
When searching him, deputies found a THC vape pen and a bottle of liquor inside his backpack.
Trillingham was arrested and booked into the Naples Jail Center on charges of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance (car burglary), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of alcohol by a minor.
Taylor was also taken into custody.
