The School District of Lee County is looking into the North Fort Myers girls soccer program over allegations of illegal recruiting violations stemming from complaints from another coach within the county.
Through a series of social media posts, they claim that the North Fort Myers coaches helped students change schools to join the Red Knights' girls soccer team. The posts include screenshots of messages between the coaches and parents.
The school district has confirmed they are looking into the claims.
According to FHSAA bylaws, schools that are found to illegally recruit are subject to forfeits, fines, probation and suspensions. Individual schools and school districts are able to hand down their own separate findings and ramifications, too.
The North Fort Myers girls soccer program has been one of the best teams in the state in recent years.
The Red Knights went 21-3 this season, were ranked number one in the Gulf Coast, and made it to their second straight state Final Four.
