The Florida Highway Patrol found the car believed to be involved in a hit-and-run crash on Lee Boulevard this weekend.
Troopers found a gray Kia in someone's driveway, that had a scorpion sticker on it, with a smashed hood and windshield. It had a tarp on it, and someone took off the license plate.
FHP said the car hit a 60-year-old man who was walking on Lee Boulevard and Hanna Avenue North Saturday morning around 5 a.m.
"That is horrible," said Renee Ashmead, Lehigh Acres resident. "That's awful. It should never have happened."
Troopers are still on the hunt for the driver.
"I certainly hope they catch the guy," said Fred Monson, Lehigh Acres resident. "They got to. It's outrageous."
FHP said car pieces from the scene are what led to the driver's arrest.
"Those are key pieces because it helps us identify what the make, model and color are," said Lt. Gregory Bueno. "Everyone's vehicles are registered. We can then start to do a regional search for that make and model or particular year and start honing in on things. We literally go door to door."
