Two men have been arrested and are facing drug-related charges after federal agents swarmed a home along Sycamore Drive in Collier County.
Juan Carlos Rodriguez Perez and Miguel Lauzado Hernandez were arrested in connection to the investigation.
According to court documents, on Sept. 10, 2024, a DEA Confidential Source was in a call with Hernandez to purchase one pound of methamphetamine for $1,800.
According to officials, two days later, they made the deal with the confidential source while agents established surveillance around Hernandez's residence.
On Feb. 19, 2025, the confidential source and were in contact about the additional purchase of methamphetamine.
According to the documents, Hernandez and Perez were at the residence for this transaction.
Hernandez is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute 50 grams in September 2024. He is also facing another charge dated Feb. 19, 2025.
This charge is for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine.
Perez is facing charges of distributing 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine.
Both men made their initial appearances in federal court in Fort Myers Tuesday morning. Hernandez was issued a temporary detention order. His detention hearing is scheduled for Feb. 28 at 11 a.m.
The judge ordered detention pending trial for Perez.
