The Lee County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a body was discovered in the Caloosahatchee River on Wednesday.
LCSO has taken the lead on the investigation, which they said is in its "infancy stage."
The Cape Coral Police Department said their marine units are on the scene assisting. According to the alert, crews responded just before 11 a.m.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed with Gulf Coast News that a body was discovered in the river and their crews are also assisting.
The exact location of the body is unclear at this time.
