A man is facing attempted murder charges after being accused of attacking another person inside a Fort Myers Publix in Lee Wednesday night. A bystander intervened and detained the suspect until law enforcement arrived.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call at 8:40 p.m. at the Publix Supermarket at the intersection of SR-82 and Lee Boulevard, where they found a victim who had been attacked without provocation.
Deputies said the suspect, Gabriel Solomon, 18, followed the victim inside the store before launching the assault.
A good Samaritan who witnessed the attack restrained Solomon until deputies arrived.
After investigating the incident and assessing the severity of the victim’s injuries, authorities determined that Solomon acted with disregard for human life, leading to a potential attempted second-degree murder charge.
Officials have not released details regarding the condition of the victim. Solomon was taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
