Trump's Easter Plans: White House Egg Roll 2025 & Mar-a-Lago Traditions

Easter Sunday is a big event for President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump.

The couple spend every Easter at his private club, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, often referred to as the "Winter White House" or "Southern White House" due to the amount of times he visited there during his administration.

When Donald Trump was the 45th president of the United States, the first lady hosted the annual White House Easter Egg Roll in Washington, D.C., the Monday after Easter Sunday from 2017 to 2019.

When Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to President Joe Biden, Donald and Melania Trump spent every Easter Sunday at their church, Bethesda-By-the-Sea (where they were married), followed by an Easter brunch at Mar-a-Lago.

Now that Donald Trump is the 47th president, he and Melania Trump will host the 2025 White House Easter Egg Roll in Washington, D.C., following their Easter activities in Palm Beach.

Here's a roundup of information about the Trumps and their Easter Sunday plans and things to know about the White House Easter Egg Roll.

On Thursday, Feb. 27, first lady Melania Trump released initial details for the 147th White House Easter Egg Roll. The Easter event will be Monday, April 21, 2025, on the south lawn of the White House. Families with children 13 years old and younger are invited to join Donald and Melania Trump, White House staff and their families.

The White House Easter Egg Roll is a tradition, dating back to 1878 during the presidency of Rutherford B. Hayes.

White House Easter Egg Roll tickets are free to the public and can be requested through an online lottery, which opens Tuesday, March 4, 2025, and closes at noon (12 p.m.) EST Monday, March 10, 2025. Entering the lottery is free, and those who are picked will be notified via email no later than Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Tickets are not for sale or resale.

As in previous years, the White House will select volunteers for the 2025 White House Easter Egg Roll through an online application. The deadline to apply to become a volunteer is Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

When Donald Trump was the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2020, he and First Lady Melania Trump hosted the White House Easter Egg Roll in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, there was no White House Easter Egg Roll in 2020 with Donald and Melania Trump. (There also was not a White House Easter Egg Roll in 2021 with then-President Joe Biden and then-First Lady Dr. Jill Biden because of the COVID-19 pandemic.)

When Donald Trump was president from January 2017 to January 2021, he and Melania Trump would spend Easter weekend at Mar-a-Lago, then head to Washington, D.C., for the White House Easter Egg Roll − with the exception in 2020, when it was canceled for the COVID-19 pandemic.
