There are big savings as all Florida Party City stores are closing. You better get there fast

• Party City, the party supply retailer, is closing most of its stores, including 44 in Florida, due to financial struggles.
• The closures come after two unsuccessful bankruptcy proceedings and challenging economic conditions for retailers.

Pop the balloons and turn off the lights. Party City stores in Florida and across the U.S. are closing up Friday after two bankruptcy proceedings failed to right the struggling company.

The New Jersey-based party store that brought supplies for birthday parties, baby showers and Halloween posted on its website that remaining merchandise was up to 80% off.

CEO Barry Litwin told corporate employees in December it was their last day at the company, CNN reported. Store employees were also notified that stores would close on Feb. 28.

"Given our long history supporting our customers’ most joyous moments, it is all the more difficult to sharethat we will soon be closing our doors," the company said in a letter to customers. "Like many retailers, we’ve been operating in an immensely challenging environment with inflationary pressures on both costs and consumer spending, and while we did everything we could to navigate these headwinds, our very best efforts were ultimately not enough to overcome these challenges."

The retailer is shuttering over 850 stores in the U.S., including 44 locations in Florida.

Nearly all of the remaining Party City locations are closing Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, according to the company's CEO.

The name won't go away just yet. Nine Party City franchise locations announced plans to keep 29 locations open.

None are in Florida, though. The franchise locations are in Arizona, California, Hawaii, New Jersey, Texas, Virginia and Puerto Rico.

There are 44 Party City locations in Florida, although some may have already closed.

After fighting to remain solvent through the pandemic and rising inflation, several major companies have announced closings, bankruptcies or restructuring, including Advance Auto Parts, Red Lobster, Big Lots, Hooters, TGI Fridays, Conn's HomePlus, Outback Steakhouse, Joann Fabrics and more.
