A Fort Myers man with a long criminal history is wanted for violating probation after serving time for throwing a rock through a woman’s window.
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said Eddie Jones, who has spent nearly 30 years in and out of custody, was previously arrested for damaging the home of a woman who had offered him shelter.
Crime Stoppers said that Jones, who was homeless at the time, was allowed to stay at the woman’s residence for a night. However, when he demanded drugs and became aggressive, the woman asked him to leave. He returned later and hurled a large rock through her window, causing damage to her property.
The act resulted in his arrest, leading to an eight-month jail sentence followed by a year in state custody.
Jones has an extensive criminal record, including 11 prior offenses such as armed robbery, drug distribution, aggravated battery with a firearm, fraud and sexual battery. He has served three prison terms, totaling about 16 years.
Crime Stoppers describe Jones as 6 feet tall and 195 pounds. He may be using the aliases Freddie Matthews or Crummy Muzon. Law enforcement is asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
