Suspect arrested after FHP chase in Fort Myers involving stolen car

A driver in a stolen Volkswagen is accused of leading Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a chase Monday night in Fort Myers before stopping in a parking lot and running away.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers attempted to pull over the Volkswagen on Fowler Street after their system flagged the vehicle as stolen.

The driver, Rodrick Pasley, refused to stop, leading troopers on a chase that ended in a parking lot off Evans Avenue.

FHP said the suspect then ran from the vehicle but was caught after a short foot chase.

Pasley was arrested and faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding law enforcement with lights and sirens active, grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting an officer without violence, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Court records show Pasley is being held on a combined $22,500 bond. A court appearance is scheduled for March 31.
