A Port Charlotte man is accused of shooting and killing his granddaughter inside their home on Saturday morning, according to new arrest report details.

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on McDill Drive around 3:30 a.m. after receiving reports that a man, later identified as Jose Mogro, 67, had just shot his granddaughter inside following a domestic argument.
According to the sheriff's office's arrest report, Mogro called them himself to report that he had just shot his 38-year-old granddaughter.
When deputies arrived, they said Mogro was in the master bedroom with the victim and his wife. The victim, who deputies said was shot in the chest once, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The couple was taken out of the house for questioning. During questioning, both Mogro and his wife reportedly provided similar statements.
According to CCSO, the granddaughter left the house in the afternoon on Friday and came home around 2 a.m. on Saturday.
Deputies said when she arrived back home, she was being loud, making noises, slamming doors and keeping Mogro and his wife awake.
Mogro reportedly addressed his granddaughter and told her to be quiet, but she didn't listen. Deputies said Mogro then went to his bedroom, where he closed and locked the door because he did not feel safe based on how she was acting.
Deputies said approximately 20 minutes later, there was a loud banging noise coming from the master bedroom door.
Due to the loud banging, Mogro armed himself with a gun and went to the bedroom door. As he opened the door, he was reportedly confronted by his granddaughter, who was swinging her arms and approaching him quickly.
CCSO said it was at that time that Mogro fired his gun, striking her in the chest.
According to the arrest report, Mogro's granddaughter had moved in with them about three weeks ago. Mogro and his wife told deputies that their granddaughter suffers from bipolar disorder, smokes marijuana and has recently been behaving in an aggressive verbal demeanor.
During the interview with detectives, Mogro said there was no deadly threat coming from his granddaughter and he used the gun as a tool to deter her.
Mogro was arrested and is facing a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
