Englewood fire crews responded to the Manasota Beach boat ramp after a routine boat launch took an unexpected turn, sending an SUV into the water.
The Englewood Fire Department's Engine 73 responded to the call on Monday to find an SUV nearly submerged to above the driver's window.
The incident occurred after the driver lost traction on the slick ramp while attempting to launch a boat, leaving the SUV unable to maneuver out of the water.
Firefighters took immediate measures to prevent it from drifting further by chalking the wheels.
The crew remained on scene to monitor the situation until a tow truck arrived to recover the vehicle.
