A Fort Myers man pleaded guilty on Friday to Hobbs Act Robbery and brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.
Hobbs Act Robbery is an enhanced charged for interfering with interstate commerce, such as gas stations.
The incident occurred in July 2024 when the Lee County Sheriff's Office said 22-year-old Kevoun Watts entered a RaceTrac gas station on Lee Boulevard, pointed a gun at the clerk, and demanded money from the register.
Following the robbery, Watts reportedly committed a similar crime at a 7-Eleven gas station off Colonial Boulevard.
In both instances, deputies said he wore a ski mask and used a black handgun to carry out the thefts.
Detectives identified Watts through surveillance footage, which showed the vehicle he used to flee from one of the crime scenes. He was arrested later that same night.
Watts now faces up to 20 years in federal prison for his crimes.
