Cape Coral residents concerned about...

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

Neighbors in Northeast Cape Coral are waking up in the middle of the night because of the sound of dump trucks along Northeast Third Avenue and Northeast 11th Street when they're not supposed to be working.

"I swear I'm in bed watching TV, and all of a sudden, it's like sounds like I'm hearing a truck," said Donald Lionberg.

When Donald Lionberg bought his home, a field full of dirt piles was the last thing he expected to see.

"Dump trucks going up and down the road all the time. There are backup beepers. They're constantly, you know, just beeping and beeping," said Lionberg.

The City of Cape Coral has a noise ordinance allowing construction between 7 in the morning and 7 at night, Monday through Saturday. Not everyone appears to follow those rules. A resident was caught on camera making a lot of noise minutes after midnight earlier this week.

"If I have to deal with this a couple more years, I may end up putting a for sale sign on," Lionberg told Gulf Coast News.

Others Gulf Coast News spoke to off camera are considering the same thing, they don't like waking up because of the noise. Donald's neighbor William Baxter is fed up as well.

"Just noise, vibrations and it doesn't end. It's six days a week of noise," said William Baxter. "The noise vibrations, it's time to end it. I understand you got a job to do, but it's a nuisance."

The city says if a noise ordinance ever occurs outside the listed hours, they want residents to report it to the Cape Coral Police Department.
