You may consider this a Hail Mary pass. The developer of Prima Luce told Gulf Coast News' Dave Elias that he has a major investor committed to paying off the debt on the vacant riverfront lot.
At this time, Bob MacFarlane said he can't share who that investor is but believes he can meet the foreclosure auction deadline by 9 a.m. Thursday.
The Prima Luce condo development , which was first announced in 2016, was supposed to be completed in 2020; however, it has had numerous delays.
Condo investors have reportedly paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for condos in one of two 22-story condo towers that were never developed. Now, MacFarlane said he believes he'll be able to pay off the debt and keep the property.
"The person has agreed to pay off the note, and they would become a partner," MacFarlane said.
MacFarlane did not show any proof of this claim with Gulf Coast News and he did not share the name of the investor and would-be partner willing to pay off the debt.
The Lee County clerk of courts, Kevin Karnes, told Elias, "The debt has not been paid and the property is scheduled for sale tomorrow morning at 9 a.m."
On Tuesday, Gulf Coast News reported that the Fort Myers Police Department is looking into multiple complaints from Prima Luce condo investors .
