Have you ever wanted to rent a kayak at a Cape Coral park? Well, now you can! The city of Cape Coral is allowing kayak rentals and guided rentals at a city park for the first time.
You can rent these kayaks at Sirenia Vista Park, located along SW 39th Place.
The city put out a bid opportunity after Hurricane Ian, and Gulf Coast Kayak jumped on the opportunity.
Owner, Brian Stockbridge, said you can rent your kayak for up to four hours. You can either go out on your own or get a guided tour.
"You go out with a guide that is not only a Florida master naturalist, but also, a kayak instructor that can kind of give you the tips and tricks and you don't have to worry about navigating through the mangroves," he said.
Cape Coral Parks and Rec Director, Joe Petrella, said having this kayak rental at Sirenia Vista is a huge perk for many reasons.
"The ramp is fully ADA compliant, so you're able to transfer from your chair to your kayak and get down into the ramp," Petrella said. "Especially here at Sirenia Sista, it has direct access to the spreader."
You can rent a kayak when you get there. If you want to make sure you definitely get a kayak that day, you can rent the kayaks beforehand by calling Gulf Coast Kayak or going to their website.
Stockbridge said they are hoping to open up another kayak rental at Four Mile Cove in the near future.
