The most decorated Olympian of all time helped raise more than $2.5 million for children's mental health programs along the Gulf Coast during a gala event Wednesday night.
According to event organizers, Michael Phelps spoke about his struggles with anxiety and depression to an audience at Arthrex in Naples.
He encouraged guests to support expanded mental health services for local children and teens.
Phelps and his wife, Nicole, emphasized the importance of seeking help and therapy for mental health challenges.
Their message resonated with attendees, leading to significant donations to Kids’ Minds Matter, a nonprofit supporting Lee Health’s mental health programs for families in crisis.
The funds raised will help improve access to care and resources for children and adolescents struggling with mental health issues in Southwest Florida.
