The Cape Coral Police Department is urging residents to secure their vehicles as officers continue to see a significant increase in the number of unlocked vehicle burglaries throughout the city.

The map provided below highlights vehicle break-ins since Jan. 1, with the most recent statistics revealing that a large number of vehicle burglaries in the community have occurred in unlocked cars.
CCPD offered the following prevention tips:
- Always lock your vehicle and never leave your key/key fob in the car – even if you're just running a quick errand.
- Do not leave firearms, purses, electronics, or any valuable items in your car – especially in plain sight.
- If you see something, say something! It is easier to take action with all the information possible. Documenting these issues, regardless of any items taken, is crucial to document and investigate crime.
The department committed to addressing this issue and working closely with the community to reduce these crimes.
