Drivers are tired of people not following the rules of the road along State Road 82. Florida Highway Patrol arrested one driver Thursday night for speeding but ended up finding drugs and a gun.
"People get arrested here for that kind of stuff. Speeding, drugs, guns, so it happens a lot over here," said James Quiles, a Naples resident. "Everybody's speeding and everybody's got to slow down, this is a busy road, people can get hurt."
Once James saw all the photos of all the fentanyl and drugs troopers seized. As well as the driver of a Mercedes was caught going 105 mph in a 55, he says the driver deserves jail time.
"That's somebody very ignorant, they shouldn't be doing that they had drugs and guns are not a good mix and especially driving fast," Quiles said.
This comes just one week after state troopers arrested two people for street racing. James Parker, who drives on the road often, says this behavior is unfair to everyone else.
"To me, it makes no sense because, you know, you're waiting on accidents waiting to happen," said James Parker, a Fort Myers resident.
Thankfully, no accidents were reported, but these drivers just want people to do what's right.
"My thing is slow down, wherever you are going, if you slow down, you're going to get there safely," Parker said.
We are working to find out who was behind the wheel of the Mercedes. Gulf Coast News reached out to FHP, once we get more information we will be sure to update you.
