On Friday, different generations came together for an early St. Patrick's Day celebration.
The children of the Lee Health Child Development Center paid a special visit to the skilled nursing unit in Fort Myers. It’s a heartwarming tradition that brings smiles to both the young and old.
With handmade cards in hand, the kids walked from their day care to the skilled nursing unit near Gulf Coast Medical Center, spreading joy ahead of the holiday. Laughter and excitement filled the halls as they delivered their creations, brightening the day for patients.
This marks the sixth time the children have visited the unit, an effort staff says has meaningful benefits for everyone involved.
"You can feel the energy shift in our building. There's a smile, there's laughter. It's a reminder of hope and life and community," said Laura Noble, an administrator of the skilled nursing unit.
Noble said intergenerational activities are a reminder that no matter our age, we can always have something to gain from one another.
