The TikToker who stole $500 worth of merchandise from a Cape Coral Target pled no contest and was adjudicated guilty.
Investigators say Marlena Velez, 22. posted a video about the stolen items on her TikTok account.
Target loss prevention reported that on Oct. 30, a woman identified as Velez, entered the store and selected various items for purchase.
According to investigators, she approached a self-checkout register but did not scan the actual barcodes of the items. Instead, police said she scanned counterfeit barcodes displaying lower prices.
In total, 16 items including household goods and clothing were reported stolen. Authorities reviewed security footage and estimated the value of the stolen merchandise at $500.32.
With the help of her 300,000 followers, police say it was easy to track her down.
A judge sentenced her to 20 days in a work program and 2 years of probation. She must also stay away from all Target stores.
