A Fort Myers man accused of shooting two people at an apartment complex on Saturday ran away to Mississippi, where he was arrested early Monday.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a shooting on Saturday at Cypress West Apartments on Panther Lane off Cypress Lake Drive in south Fort Myers. That's where they found two victims with multiple gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a hospital and are considered stable.
Witnesses identified the shooter as Roger De Le Cruz, 35, who left the scene before deputies arrived, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators coordinated with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, which found and arrested De Le Cruz on I-10 near Gulfport, Mississippi, on Monday.
De Le Cruz faces two counts of attempted second-degree murder and remains in custody with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold, deputies said.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno said his office is working with prosecutors and Mississippi authorities to bring De Le Cruz back to Lee County.
