A man from Orlando was arrested early Sunday after being stopped for driving the wrong way on Interstate 75 in Collier County.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office report, a deputy was dispatched to a report of a wrong-way driver near mile marker 81 on I-75.
When deputies arrived, they said they had found the vehicle stopped with the help of a road ranger. The driver, identified as Sebastian Larrota, 21, was standing outside the car.
The report states that Larrota admitted to deputies that he had mistakenly driven in the wrong direction.
Deputies said he smelled of alcohol, had glossy eyes and was wearing a wristband commonly associated with bars and nightclubs. He told deputies he had been drinking earlier in the night.
The deputy said they did a field sobriety test, during which Larrota showed signs of impairment. He was arrested and taken to the Naples Jail Center, where a breath test showed blood alcohol levels of 0.171 and 0.158 BAC, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.
Larrota faces a charge of driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of 0.15 or higher. He was released on bond and is awaiting a court appearance.
