A Fort Myers man was sentenced to 13 years in prison on Monday in connection to a DUI crash that killed a teenager and an elderly woman in 2022.
Andres Rene Botello, 29, was arrested in 2022 for a crash that killed two people.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Botello hit another car on Lee Boulevard and Alvin Avenue on August 6, 2022.
FHP said his pickup truck turned left in front of the car, hitting the side and stopping in the middle of the intersection by the RaceTrac gas station.
A 67-year-old woman was a passenger who died at the scene, according to FHP. The initial crash report said the 19-year-old driver and another 17-year-old passenger both were injured and taken to a local hospital. The 17-year-old, Joshua Salina Rivero, died later.
Botello was reportedly charged with DUI and two counts of manslaughter.
On Monday, Botello faced a Lee County judge where he was sentenced to 13 years in prison, minimum of four years, for DUI manslaughter.
