Lee County officials approved the plan to turn an empty three-acre lot into an all-new EMS facility for Alva residents.
On Tuesday, Lee County leaders voted yes on the project to develop an EMS facility along Iverson Drive, facing Palm Beach Boulevard.
Currently, there is only one station inland which has created a large gap of coverage between Alva and Fort Myers Shores.
An EMS station will now help first responders save time, and possibly your life, in Alva without having to go too far in the case of an emergency.
The total cost for the land itself is approximately $700,000, plus $20,000 in closing costs.
