Lee County officials are set to discuss the potential plan to turn an empty three-acre lot into a lifeline for Alva residents.
Lee County leaders are expected to say yes to the project - develop an EMS facility along Iverson Drive, facing Palm Beach Boulevard - on Tuesday.
Currently, there is only one station inland which has created a large gap of coverage between Alva and Fort Myers Shores.
An EMS station would help first responders save time, and possibly your life, in Alva without having to go too far in the case of an emergency.
The total cost for the land itself is approximately $700,000, plus $20,000 in closing costs.
