Colonial Boulevard at Summerlin Road is no stranger to major traffic backups, especially in the afternoon as residents head back into Cape Coral over the Midpoint Bridge.
On Tuesday, Lee County leaders are looking at ways to alleviate some of the traffic congestion.
Commissioners are looking at doing that by adding another left turn lane on Summerlin Rd. to turn west on Colonial Blvd., toward the Midpoint Bridge.
Another part of the project would make modifications to the traffic signal at McGregor Boulevard and Colonial Blvd., underneath the bridge.
We do know another project being eyed by commissioners is to add a flyover at Colonial Blvd. and Summerlin Rd., in an effort to keep traffic flowing from the Midpoint Bridge with no traffic light interference.
That idea has been on the table for several years. Now, on Tuesday, Lee County leaders will discuss the idea.
