The City of Cape Coral announced the temporary closure of the Chiquita Lock beginning on April 1 for a waterway enhancement project.
The city said the lock will close for the South Spreader Waterway Enhancement Project, which aims to improve water quality and waterway flow.
Boaters are urged to secure alternative docking arrangements as the lock's removal and construction are expected to be completed by June 2025.
