A nearly 2,000-acre brush fire continues to burn Wednesday afternoon in the Florida Everglades National Park.
The fire, dubbed "The Johnson Fire," is located northeast of Mahogany Hammock and Main Park Road - spanning 1,900 acres with 0% containment as of 10:51 a.m., according to Florida Department of Agriculture.
The Everglades National Park is a fire-adapted ecosystem, and crews are working to suppress the fire to minimize impacts to park resources and infrastructure.
Due to the fire, Mahogany Hammock Rd. and Mahogany Hammock Trail are closed.
Officials said smoke impacts and intermittent closures are possible Main Park Road, so residents are encouraged to use caution when driving.
The Johnson Fire is one of several other fires burning east of the park, which could also impact roads and travel.
