A Fort Myers woman is wanted after violating her probation this month following a conviction for check fraud and grand theft.
According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Kathrine Wortman. 38, altered a check worth nearly $2,000 that had been mailed to a local business.
Investigators said she intercepted the check, changed it to make herself the payee, and tried to cash it.
A suspicious bank teller refused to process the transaction, and law enforcement traced the attempt back to Wortman, who was later convicted and sentenced to probation.
Crime Stoppers said Wortman recently left her last known address and failed to complete a court-ordered residential drug treatment program, both violations of her probation.
Records show she has seven prior arrests, including charges for fraud, theft, resisting and drug offenses.
