A man with a long history of criminal offenses is wanted for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Matthew Knapp, 45, is facing a warrant for four counts of failing to register as a sexual offender.
His criminal record includes 14 prior arrests for charges ranging from drug offenses to theft and hit-and-run incidents.
Knapp was first convicted at age 33 for lewd and lascivious molestation involving a teenage girl between the ages of 12 and 15.
Despite denying the allegations, investigators discovered more than 1,000 sexually explicit text messages exchanged between him and the victim over a three-week period.
Knapp has previously served time in jail and prison not only for the molestation case but also for unrelated grand theft charges. His last known residence was in Lehigh Acres.
