Fort Myers Beach's road makeover is continuing this week, Florida Department of Transportation is working on paving along San Carlos Boulevard.
It's causing nighttime closures, that have people confused if the timing was good because of spring break.
"It's just not necessary at all," said Aiden Meadors.
When Aiden Meadors came down for spring break on Fort Myers Beach, construction trucks were the last thing he was expecting.
"It's definitely crazy. I mean, they got this whole bridge backed up, and I mean, they got this big machine. It's all moving slow," said Aiden Meadors, visiting from Cincinnati.
FDOT is working on paving roads along San Carlos Boulevard from Crescent Street to Hurricane Pass, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. The department says nighttime lane closures are scheduled through Thursday night.
"They should be doing this at midnight," said Bobby Ferara, a North Fort Myers resident.
Ferara is familiar with the island and knows work needs to be done, but the number of people going off and on the island won't change.
"Still going to get a mess because it's only one or two lanes coming down the road, so I think they should've just kept it the way it was," Ferara said.
FDOT says flaggers will be in the work zone to keep traffic moving while keeping workers safe. The department is reminding drivers to be careful while driving, speeding through work zones in Florida double when workers are present.
