One person could be seen being taken into custody after a manhunt for an armed man prompted the lockdown of two nearby hospitals in south Fort Myers Sunday night.
Text alerts were sent out from Lee Health to employees of HealthPark Medical Center and Golisano Children's Hospital at 9:13 p.m., stating law enforcement was looking for a white male wearing a red shirt, black pants and a white cowboy hat, armed with a handgun.
Lee County Sheriff's Office confirmed an active scene was underway in the area of Candlewood Suites at 9740 Commerce Center Ct. in south Fort Myers, across Summerlin Road from the two hospitals.
LCSO said one male suspect was involved, and the incident was determined to be a "disturbance with no reports of injuries at this time."
The lockdown at HealthPark Medical Center hospital and neighboring Golisano Children's Hospital was considered a precautionary measure related to the scene.
Early Monday morning, a man was seen being taken into custody by deputies. However, LCSO has not confirmed whether they are the suspect in question.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
