A man was arrested early Saturday after deputies in Hillsborough County used a helicopter and K-9 unit to track him down in connection with two stolen motorcycles.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, aviation crews responded around 4 a.m. to Tranquility Lake Circle in Riverview to help deputies on the ground locate a suspect who ran away after stealing a motorcycle.
The helicopter crew guided deputies and a K-9 team to the man, who was then arrested.
The suspect, identified as Guillermo Garcia Bofill, 39, is charged with two counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting an officer without violence, possession of burglary tools, tampering with physical evidence and criminal mischief of $1,000 or more.
“Let this be a warning to criminals that they won’t be able to steal and get away in Hillsborough County,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “Our Aviation Section did a fantastic job staying on this suspect until he was taken into custody.”
