Two dogs were killed, a home was destroyed, and cars are considered a total loss after fire tore through an apartment Thursday morning in south Fort Myers.
According to the South Trail Fire District, crews responded to a blaze on the 15900 block of Husky Lane, where they removed two large dogs from the burning apartment.
Firefighters performed CPR on the animals for 20 minutes, but both died. No one else was inside when firefighters arrived.
The efficiency apartment and two vehicles on a large private property are considered a total loss.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
