Lee County deputies arrested a 12-year-old Veteran Park Academy for the Arts student for making threats and mapping out the school to plant bombs around the campus.
Brandon Vega Barrera was arrested on Thursday after students reported he was creating concerning drawings, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
LCSO detectives said Barrera created a map of the school and depicted the location of where he would place bombs around the school.
According to LCSO, he also wrote a manifesto declaring his intent to commit violent acts.
Following a search of Barrera's school-issued Chromebook, investigators found searches including bomb-making videos, notable serial killers and terrorists on the device.
Barrera was charged with written or electronic threats to conduct an act of terrorism and threats to throw, project, place or discharge any destructive device.
LCSO said its School Threat Enforcement Team (STEM) is investigating the incident and will work alongside the Lee County School District for the safety of its students and staff.
