School District of Lee County officials announced work is being done to "streamline the district's central office operations."
According to a news release from the school district, the changes only impact the central office and do not impact school-based teachers or support staff.
Officials said each department was directed to analyze its budgets and identify "cost-saving opportunities."
According to the school district, all departments identified 5 percent budget reductions, resulting in $15.9 million in savings.
Now, the school district said it's recommending adjustments to over 50 positions.
“We are committed to ensuring that our resources are used in the most effective way possible to benefit our students and staff,” Superintendent Dr. Denise Carlin said via news release. “By refining our organizational structure, we are taking an important step toward maximizing efficiency, reducing bureaucracy, and redirecting savings where they matter most – our schools and our students.”
